anyone know any site for free dog food samples?
I have a 15 week old puppy staff x collie and i want to change his food but i would like some samples to see which he likes better anyone got any site for dog food samples? cheers
Burns are a great food and give free samples if you ring, so do Skinners, James Wellbeloved do, but can take 28 days to come. Pets at Home have food on the counter for dogs to try, their Wainwrights brand is good and had moneyback guarantee your dog will like it. You can also just buy small bags of most brands to try. Big companies like Purina flood the market with samples but steer clear it’s poor quality, very expensive and too high in protein.
Here’s a few links for you to do some research;

However, any vet will tell you that you shouldn’t change a dogs food too often so best to do your research choose a quality brand like Burns, (the better the food the less you have to feed so they also work out cheaper) and just rotate flavours for variety. That way you won’t upset the dogs digestive system.

Go to your local independent pet shop – they might be willing to give you small samples to try but don’t chop & change his food too much or you’ll give him the runs and don’t change it ll at once – add a little bit to his normal food at first then gradually increase the amount.

You can buy any bag of dog food from any PetCo or PetSmart and let your dog try it. Those places have a 100% Money back guarantee for pet food. So if your dog doesn’t like it, just bring it back and try a different kind. Other than that, I would just research what kind of food you want to feed your dog and e-mail those places and ask for some samples. Just remember that most companies want you to use their brand and they’ll do just about anything to make that happen.

Experience
If you are in the UK, Burns will send you samples, but the amount they send is very small, so you won’t get the full result really. Suggest you identify a good brand, and buy a small bag – switch gradually, mixing the new with the old, in increasing amounts until he’s on the new entirely. If you switch abruptly, you will have loose stools on your hands (not literally of course).
